Vastu Comes to RVA by Johnathan Miller

Mansara Architect Aparna Patil has created a gracious lifestyle and a place for you to call home; a place to relax, and a place to explore. With an elegant thoughtful design within a custom curated home, you can experience the peacefulness and serenity of sunlight. An elemental part of our existence, structures with abundant daylight help keep us physically and emotionally healthy. A home of this design  also reduces the need to turn on electric lights during the day, cutting energy consumption by 50 to 80 percent.

Rather than simply cramming in as many windows and skylights as possible, it’s important to balance light’s benefits with its side effects: heat gain/loss and glare. The home that Ms. Patil designed and constructed is more than a structure, it will be a healthy member of your family.

January 2018 Featured Staged Listing by Johnathan Miller

Our Featured Staged Listing for January is the perfect home to start off the new year with because it's freshly remodeled, the character from the original design remains in the form of wood floors and tons of windows that allow in plenty of natural light and mix beautifully with new elements like granite countertops, updated fixtures, and stainless steel appliances.

We especially love the open floor plan which makes this home a dream for entertaining. We defined the living room with an area rug to make it cozy and comfortable, but it still flows nicely into the kitchen and dining room. As a host, you don't have to feel closed off in the kitchen, which is always a plus. We used a tranquil palette of grey and blues and browns that are refreshing and contemporary.

There's a large island in the kitchen, which we added bar stools to for another great spot for breakfast or entertaining, and the industrial design contrasts nicely with the rustic wood table in the adjacent dining room.
